I have learned and practiced Swept Boss, Swept Cut, Lofted Boss, and Lofted Cut features in SolidWorks to create complex 3D shapes.
Key modeling steps and skills highlighted:
Generated a revolved surface on the front plane to form a precise hemispherical bowl profile using controlled arc geometry and centerlines.
Created a parametric helix/spiral on the top plane with defined pitch, revolutions, and diameter, then converted it into a sketch and projected it onto the spherical surface to achieve a 3D guide curve.
Built solid rods by defining local reference planes on the 3D curve, sketching circular profiles, and applying Swept Boss/Base along the projected spiral and auxiliary curves.
Resolved self-intersection and merge errors by adjusting spiral diameter and sweep profile size, showing understanding of geometric dependencies and feature robustness.
Used Circular Pattern driven by a sketch-based axis to array the rods around 360°, tuning instance counts to balance visual density and manufacturability.
Finished the model with a Revolved Boss/Base ring aligned to the spiral radius and applied a metallic material appearance for presentation rendering.
